CANMORE – A Canmore business is celebrating a milestone this week, as An Edible Life revels in its fifth anniversary.
“It’s exciting. The food industry can be pretty difficult,” said owner Carole Beaton. “To make it this far is pretty awesome.”
The secret to her success has been her customers, she said, and the incredible support and feedback they have offered over the years.
“I definitely wouldn’t be here without the community.”
An Edible Life offers healthy prepared meals that are ready to take home, heat up and enjoy. Options include a selection of salads, dips, soups, curries, shepherds pies, meatballs and vegan options, along with healthy treats for desserts.
Beaton said she was inspired to create healthy take-home meals because she felt there was a need for an alternative option to fast-food.
While the company has kept its most popular options over the years, she said, the menu has grown and incorporated new meals all the time.
One of her favourite meals, Beaton added, is the yam and kale stew that features a peanut sauce, brown rice, roasted yams and steamed kale paired with ginger and spices.
“It’s a one-pot wonder,” Beaton sauce. “It’s really good.”
In honour of its fifth anniversary, An Edible Life will host five days of specials and samples from Monday (Nov. 18) to Friday (Nov. 22), all of which will be shared on its social media.
There will also be fun in shop contests to win prizes and all guests who visit the shop will be entered into a final draw to win a dinner for two.
“I have a few ideas up my sleeve for the new year,” Beaton said with a grin. “[I’m] just trying to keep the momentum going and providing healthy meals for families and individuals who don’t want to cook or don’t have time to cook.”
An Edible Life’s food creations can be found throughout Canmore including at Shoppers Drug Mart, Nutters Everyday Naturals, Fergie’s Bakery & Convenience and Rusticana Grocery.
“We’re doing our best to get it in more locations,” Beaton said. “It makes it easier for people to pick stuff up.”
An Edible Life is located at 109-112 Kananaskis Way, Canmore and is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
