When the weather turns frosty, Bow Valley diners begin to seek warm, cozy spaces and hearty food to retreat to after their winter adventures. Lined with gleaming dark wood and wrapped around an enormous and beautiful bar, Canmore’s historic Georgetown Inn & Pub is the perfect place to find refuge, great food and enjoy a pint or two with friends.

Georgetown is well known for its legendary Fish & Chips, voted best in the Bow Valley 14 years in a row. Beer-battered Atlantic cod is served with house-cut fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce and fresh lemon, Fantastic. This year, the pub was also recognized for its stellar nachos with another Best in the Bow Valley award. This Mexican-themed fave is perfectly at home in the mountains - especially when done Georgetown style. Enjoy crispy chips loaded with all of your favourite toppings plus a few unexpected treats like sweet corn, black beans and a cumin-forward seasoning that takes it to the next level. Enjoy the full Georgetown Institute Nachos with friends or take the still-very-generous Hiker’s Nachos for yourself or as an appy.

The rest of the menu is filled out with pub classics like mini-Yorkies and fantastic meat pies: try the Steak and Guiness, you won’t be sorry! We indulged in the beautifully plated Rundle Mountain Clubhouse, which, like it’s namesake, soars to great heights. Featuring fresh chicken breast, crisp, triple-smoked bacon, smoked Gouda, lettuce and tomato on a beautiful marble rye, this sando won’t leave you wanting more.

On weekends, the team offers a dinner feature that allows them to flex their culinary muscles and offer diners something new and delicious. The week we were there, we were presented with delicious, fall-off-the-bone Cajun-seasoned ribs, buttermilk fried chicken with honey glaze, duck-fat-roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. It was a perfect, hearty meal on a cool fall evening.

An extensive breakfast menu gets your Bow Valley Day started right, particularly on weekends with the special Benny menu featuring eight  options in half or full sizes. Choices for kids make the pub family friendly.

On warmer days, enjoy the view on Georgetown’s heated patio or sidle up to one of the wood fireplaces inside with something from the “Warmers” menu like the Blueberry Tea with Amaretto and Grande Marnier in a cup of orange pekoe.

The Georgetown Inn & Pub is open Sunday to Thursday - 8:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m.

and Friday and  Saturday - 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
