It's been 21 months in the making, but CFL football is back, and the Edmonton Elks are marking opening day, August 7 with a giveaway of 35,000 free Elks t-shirts and plenty of cheap eats.
A new and ongoing $4 menu features pop, popcorn, hotdogs, corndogs, candy and potato chips for under $4, but there's also regular specials each game, including a free pop and popcorn for kids 12 and under each game.
The Elks encourage patrons to use Park & Ride to get to The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium, especially on Aug. 7 and 14, due to reduced LRT service to the area.
“It’s been far too long since our fans have been able to enjoy a game at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium. We’re excited to kick off the season and come together safely as a community, as we embark on a new era of football in Edmonton,” said Elks President and CEO Chris Presson. “Our entire organization is driven by providing an exceptional game day experience for all our fans, and that starts with a commitment to ensuring the safest environment possible. Together with our partners at the City of Edmonton, we can’t wait to welcome everyone back this weekend.”
Organizers remind patrons that Commonwealth Stadium will operate at full seating capacity for the 2021 season, with no separations required in seating areas. Though not required, face masks are recommended at the stadium. There will also be touchless hand sanitizer stations and touchless sink faucets, soap dispensers and towel dispensers in restrooms.
As well, guests who leave the stadium won't be permitted to re-enter the facility. Touchless pay for food, 50/50 tickets and game tickets purchases are encouraged and sometimes required. See ticket info, schedules and more at goelks.com.
