BOW VALLEY - Things are heating up.
For the second time this month, residents and visitors are being advised to protect themselves from high temperatures in Canmore, the MD of Bighorn and Kananaskis Country.
On Saturday (Aug. 15), Environment Canada issued heat warnings for the areas, stating temperatures are expected to reach 29C with overnight lows near 14C for the next three days.
“Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion,” the statement said.
Currently, there is no heat warning in place for Banff National Park.

Temperatures reaching 29 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 14 degrees Celsius are expected for the next 3 days.
Environment Canada suggests people consider postponing outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day; take frequent breaks from the heat and spend time in cooler spaces when possible; and to stay hydrated.
