Regarding the Sept. 6, 2024 edition of the Outlook, and the letter “Sewage smell in Canmore needs resolving” by Sean Cavanagh on the continuing sewage smells.
I agree that the time to act is now. I live by Millennium Park, which has seen a marked increase in use by a myriad of sports teams, picnicking families, and wedding parties. It’s an embarrassment to see their enjoyment marred by the increasingly frequent stench. The Town’s response to my latest enquiry was that the situation is being monitored and that I should advise when odours were present.
Aren’t we past that point? Relying on westerly winds and cooler temperatures is no longer viable. This issue affects all residents, as the inevitable decline in adjacent property values will impact everyone’s taxes. “Visit Canmore: come climb a peak; don’t mind the reek”.
