CANMORE – Following its successful launch last summer, Mystery Town Tours recently added four more cities to explore via its clue-solving adventure game.
Using your phone as a guide, the interactive activity combines the fun of a scavenger hunt, the puzzles of an escape room, and the challenge of an Amazing Race to discover a city’s icons and hidden secrets.
“Just like an escape room, you’re cracking clues to solve a mystery. But instead of being stuck inside a locked room, you’re solving riddles leading you around the city, indoors and outdoors,” said founder Andrew Nickerson.
A total of twelve Mystery Town adventures are now available across five cities, including Canmore, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria and Vancouver.
Each adventure varies in length from an hour-and-a-half to five hours and costs between $49 to $99 per team.
“A big part of the fun is the hidden-gem places you stumble upon as you solve each clue,” said Nickerson.
“Whether you’ve been there 20 years or 20 minutes, you’ll find yourself in obscure corners of your city that you’ve likely never heard of — and might otherwise miss out on. So, it’s a unique experience for locals looking for something new, and a whole lot of fun for visitors or newcomers to the area.”
