It’s at this time of year, when the snow is falling and frost greets us on our windows in the morning, that we begin to crave comfort food. We hunt for those stick-to-your-ribs meals guaranteed to fill you up and keep you warm through the cold winter nights. When you add a chef-driven menu, a beautiful and cozy dining room and staff as warm as the fire in the hearth, you’ve found yourself at Canmore’s Table Food + Drink in the Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre.
Here you’ll find an eclectic menu with something for everyone made with quality ingredients. For happy hour, we recommend the mussels and frites, which offers big, meaty mussels in a roasted garlic tomato, white wine and tarragon broth with julienned tomatoes and leeks with a side of crispy shoestring frites. Pair it with beer, wine or a highball, all priced at $5 for happy hour.
For dinner, start with the delicious Caesar salad, which features whole artisan romaine leaves, anchovy caper vinaigrette, crisp pancetta and a tasty parmesan oil crouton.
Two hearty and delicious dishes are standouts on the main-course menu. The braised beef is fall-off-the-bone tender and deeply savoury served with butternut squash risotto, green peas and wild mushroom ragout plated with a colourful array of seasonal vegetables. It’s a beautiful dish that will warm your belly and keep you full until breakfast.
Another great choice for dinner is the tomahawk pork chop. Ethically sourced from Alberta’s Bear and Flower Farms, this sizable chop is served with braised cabbage, a rosemary and green peppercorn reduction and roast cippolini. The double-smoked bacon potato Romanov that accompanies the pork chop is a highlight of the plate with a smokey, creamy and cheesy take on this staple side dish.
If you have room for dessert (you can do it!) there’s a gorgeous array of dessert choices from crumbles to cakes, including the chef’s choice cheese cake which changes flavours often. The apple cinnamon is creamy, aromatic and delicious.
The menu at Table changes seasonally with the culinary team using craft and creativity to keep things fresh and in season. Guests can dine in or take their meal away to enjoy at home. Currently operating on “pandemic hours,” Table is open daily from 7-11 a.m. for breakfast and 4-9 for dinner. Check back regularly for the return of lunch as well.
