LAKE LOUISE – No injuries are being reported after several vehicles went off the road due to black ice and snow northwest of Lake Louise.
RCMP are advising Highway 93 north – also known as the Icefields Parkway – between Bow Lake Lodge and Saskatchewan River crossing are snow covered and black ice.
“RCMP are asking motorists to avoid this area and if you must head out, please drive according to the conditions,” said Cpl. Gina Slaney, a public information office for Southern Alberta RCMP, in a media release.
In the Bow Valley, weather temperatures dropped from low- to mid-double digits in recent days to just above zero as of Friday morning (May 17).
The coming days of the May long weekend for the area are forecasted to have rain, with occasional snow.
