BANFF – A snowstorm is expected to blanket heavy snow on Banff, Lake Louise, Canmore and Kananaskis Country Monday night (April 29) and into Tuesday morning (April 30).

Environment Canada said the heaviest snow will fall over higher elevations in the mountains but the region is expected to be hit with 10 to 20 centimetres.

“Snow will begin early this evening and continue through the night,” states the warning.

“Snow will taper off Tuesday morning, but a second round of heavy snow is expected Tuesday night and Wednesday.”

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations, according to the warning, and visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

“Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions,” it states.
