The Canadian Avalanche Centre has issued a Special Public Avalanche Warning for areas of the South Coast, North and South Columbias and Kootenay-Boundary.
In the B.C. Interior, it includes areas around Valemount south to the U.S. border. This warning is from Jan. 7-10 inclusive.
The warning comes after a high-intensity storm dumped up to a metre of snow in the southern interior. According to the CAC, the snowpack includes series of weak layers, including a weak layer near the ground, which, if triggered, has the potential for deep, large avalanches.
