Police are appealing for any video that may exist of a shooting that sent three teens to hospital early Monday, Sept. 2.
One 17-year-old male was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to St. Albert RCMP. Two others, a 16-year-old female and another 17-year-old male were also brought to hospital with minor injuries.
“Investigation thus far indicates that the youth were originally in a vehicle on Grovesnor Boulevard” shortly after midnight, the release reads. “As they were leaving, they had a very brief confrontation with the suspect vehicle described as a white van with tinted windows.
“After the confrontation, the van followed the teens to the intersection of Levasseur Road and Grandin Road. The van pulled up next to the teens and gun shots were heard.
“The suspect vehicle fled the area West on Levasseur Road. The victims drove onto Hunchak Way where they awaited emergency services.”
An account of the episode posted to social media by a person claiming to be the female driver’s mother indicated a “white man” exited the suspect vehicle before shooting at the victims, but the account received by police did not include a description of the shooter.
She wrote that the teens “… are going to be okay physically, but mentally their battle is just beginning.”
Mounties are canvassing the neighbourhood for evidence and are asking anyone who may have surveillance cameras to check footage from between midnight and 1 a.m. Sept. 2.
“Please advise RCMP if you have footage of this white van or anything suspicious.”
