This past week there was a fundraiser at St. Michael’s Anglican Church to raise money for the people of Japan.
This was an incredible evening and could not have happened without the support of this community. I wanted to say a huge thank you to St. Mike’s for donating their space, The Iron Goat, GFS Foods, Sysco Foods, Safeway, JK Bakery, The Dollar Store, Lafarge and The Churches of Canmore for donating food, money and supplies.
Thank you to all the volunteers who donated their time and talents. Thank you to the Japanese communities of Canmore and Banff for your heartfelt words, music and beautiful origami. Thanks Crazy Larry for the great balloon creations, Sheila and Andrea for face painting and the businesses and individuals for their silent auction donations.
This event raised close to $14,000 for the Canadian Red Cross to aid Japan. While we in the Bow Valley will never be affected by a tragedy like a tsunami, we opened our hearts and wallets to help those in need.
Please continue to help and pray for the people of Japan.
