Wesley Arthur Stambaugh (Wes) passed away peacefully in his home in Calgary, Alberta on Friday, November 17, 2023 on his 70th birthday. Wes was born in Viking, Alberta and spent his childhood in the nearby town of Bruce, Alberta where his family owned several small businesses. After attending elementary school in Bruce and high school in Holden, Alberta, Wes was accepted into the University of Alberta where he graduated with a BSc in Civil Engineering – launching a successful and meaningful career in the public and private sectors across Alberta. Wes loved the mountains and the outdoors, looking for new hiking and skiing adventures whenever possible and was an avid and excellent golfer. He was also a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, and loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Lucille, his son Matt (Sara), grandchildren Edison, Calvin, and Robyn, brother Tim, sister Pat, brothers-in-law Larry, Bob, Peter, and Dave, sisters-in-law Wanda, Kathy, Betty, and Judy, and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joan and Ken, brother Bill, and sister Valerie. We are looking forward to hosting a celebration of life for Wes in the spring of 2024, and in lieu of flowers for the family, please donate to the charity of your choice in memory of Wes.
