"Schools are unique settings where special measures are needed to mitigate the risk of exposure," said Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw. "But there is still no risk-free approach to living with COVID-19 – we have no choice but to live with it.

“It is a huge honour to be recognized for the work I have done," said Canmore's Laurissa Brousseau. “I enjoy the work I do. I want to continue to make a positive impact in my community.”

While administration at CRPS maintains a procedure that directs students to "dress appropriately" is a broad direction for principals to follow, handbooks tells students at one local high school to dress in a way that is not a "distraction" to others and to "please respect the modesty of yourself and others."

"We have to look at all the risks and benefits for our kids, for the teachers and for the administrators," said Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw during a town hall livestream Thursday (June 25). "Having kids stay at home and do virtual school for long periods of time brings with it other risks that we need to take into consideration."

“It still worked out to be a very collaborative project when we were supposed to isolate and not be together,” said Grade 5 teacher Stephanie Kish. “I think that’s what makes them more special to me. We connected and still finished something together and now we get to share them with our entire community, which makes it even better.”

It couldn't have come at a better time for me and for them because there is so much uncertainty with life and when it will go back to normal. At least there is one really positive memory we can all keep from COVID-19 and the challenges we have all faced." 

Graduation ceremonies for students at Canmore Collegiate High School, Banff Community High School and Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy will look a little bit different this year

"I know this will be a very tough day to be saying goodbye to friends and colleagues we have helped to build this institution over decades with their incredible skills and talents. We are very sorry to be wishing them farewell, and I want to thank those of you who will be staying on with the Banff Centre for your compassion and understanding."
