BOW VALLEY – A heavy rainfall warning has been issued by Environment Canada for Canmore, Kananaskis, Municipal District of Bighorn and the Îyârhe (Stoney) Nakoda First Nation.
Rain will begin today (June 27), with up to 50mm to 80mm expected to fall.
Thunderstorms will begin in the afternoon and intensify towards the evening, with rain tapering off on Friday morning (June 28), according to the warning.
"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible," reads the statement.
A warning has not been issued for Banff or Lake Louise. However, rain is in the forecast for Banff.
The alert area continues further north affecting areas like Hinton, Grande Cache, Whitecourt and Grande Prairie, among others.
