Regarding this grizzly hunt, which is not actually a hunt as no tags have been or will be issued.
It is a case of Alberta residents who meet the criteria of being able to assist Fish and Wildlife officers. This does not open up hunting opportunities to everyone who would want one. Calling it a hunt is just a way of trying to stir up resentment against a heavily scrutinized group of people.
This program could be successful in preventing a situation like the Sidney Island deer cull in British Columbia, where hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent to cull 84 deer.
