CANMORE – A local artist with paintings on display at the Canmore General Hospital is hoping, with a little help from the public, she will be able to recover one that was stolen earlier this month.
Artist Dana Roman noticed earlier in October that one of 10 paintings she had on display in the hallway of the hospital was missing.
She is one of five artists currently exhibiting artwork in the hallways, a long standing practice at the hospital that sees a portion of the sales donated to the Canmore and Area Hospital Foundation.
The piece valued at $400 went missing between Oct. 10 and 11 and was located in the corridor between the entrance lobby and the emergency department.
Roman said the acrylic painted silk on wood panel was 12 inches by 24 inches and she is hoping someone might see it, or know about it, and be able to help return it to her.
“It was not a little (painting), but I think they could fit it under a coat,” she said. “I doubt if someone will bring it back, but someone might see it.
“Someone really likes my painting, but it is not very nice to just take it.”
