KANANASKIS – RCMP have put the call out to the public for help in identifying three deceased individuals in Alberta, including one from Kananaskis Country, after using facial reconstruction technology to assist in the investigations.
The unidentified human remains were found across Alberta from 1985 to 2003 in Kananaskis Country, Hinton and Carbon.
The remains from Kananaskis Country is estimated to be a male, who was last seen alive between 2008 and August 2013 with the remains found in September 2013 in the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park in Kananaskis Country.
According to investigators, the man was between 25 to 40 years old when he went missing, between five-foot-three to five-foot-seven inches tall and possibly of Asian ancestry.
Officials also noted the man had signs of malnutrition or anemia at some point in his life with strong muscle development on the arm and leg bones, potentially indicating he was involved with repetitive motion, for example canoeing.
