LAKE LOUISE – Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning Saturday morning (Dec. 7) that forecast up to 30 centimetres of snow near the Alberta-B.C. border in Banff National Park.
According to the warning, which was issued at 4:34 a.m., the heavy snowfall in west-central parts of Alberta Saturday morning is expected to gradually move south throughout the day, tapering out Sunday morning.
"General amounts of 10-20 cm are forecast, although amounts may reach 30 cm in localized areas near the B.C. and Canada-USA border," stated the warning. "Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations."
Warnings were also issued for Crowsnest Pass, Pincher Creek, Waterton Lakes National Park, Jasper, Hinton, Nordegg, Rocky Mountain House and the Whitecourt.
