NASA has a stadium-size asteroid on its radar forecasted to pass by Earth on Sept 17.
The NASA asteroid watch website shows five asteroids passing by the Earth from Sept. 16 to Sept. 18, but Asteroid 2024 NO is the largest.
NASA monitors asteroid trajectory closely.
“An object larger than 150 meters that can approach Earth is termed a potentially hazardous object,” NASA’s Asteroid Watch website explains.
The Asteroid 2024 NO is shown at 950 meters in size.
It is expected to make its closest approach to earth within a distance of 620,000 miles.
It will safely pass by the Earth and moon and is not going to hit Earth.
The data shows that the asteroid will pass by the moon first and then the Earth.
The asteroid cannot be seen from Earth.
The other four asteroids due to pass by the Earth are much smaller than asteroid 2024 NO according the NASA’s asteroid watch.
Forecasts of asteroids are shown on the NASA website.
