Wildfire damage poses a major threat to many communities in western Canada. This is not a new notion to those living in the Bow Valley, nor are those concerns taken lightly.

Alberta Wildfire’s map indicates the fire was detected about 8:20 p.m., in an area south of Hogarth Lakes and north-east of Burstall Lakes off the Smith-Dorrien Highway.

“Even if you’re yelling at the top of your lungs, they may not react because they’re so focused on eating, and because the berry crop is poor, it’s going to put a little bit more stress on the bears so they might act a little bit more protective of the limited food source.”
