Lake Louise Ski Resort officials have indicated they will not file a second appeal against the $2.1 million fine for cutting down endangered whitebark pine trees in 2013 and are focusing on the ski hill's long-range plan

Parks Canada and RCMP have announced scaling back search efforts, three days after the 23-year-old man from India went missing, as he is presumed drowned

UPDATE: The man who fell in the North Saskatchewan River in Banff National Park on Saturday (July 25) is a 23-year-old from Calgary

"We recognize how difficult masking would be, especially in lower elementary grades, which is why we are not relying on any single health measure to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the school setting," said Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw.

Due to the difficult terrain at the crash site and lack of road access, some of those injured were triaged and treated before being airlifted to a staging area where ambulances were waiting. Injuries ranged from serious head and pelvic trauma to leg and shoulder fractures. 

“I am satisfied that, in the circumstances of these offences and this offender, the sentences imposed were fit sentences … There is no basis for this court to interfere and the appeal is dismissed," wrote Justice B.E. Romaine in the decision issued Wednesday (July 22)

As of Tuesday (July 21) afternoon, the Bow Valley had 14 positive active cases confirmed with eight in Banff, six in the overall Canmore geographical area, which includes two cases in the MD of Bighorn and one in the town of Canmore

"The removal of the vehicle is a large undertaking due to the challenges involved with the area where it came to rest. The RCMP must also protect the physical integrity of the vehicle pending its examination as part of this investigation."

"The RCMP are actively reaching out to friends and family of those impacted and we are on standby to help support those families in the days and weeks to come," said Pursuit Banff Jasper Collection president David McKenna.

"Something went wrong and he lost control. He tumbled about 400 metres to his death to the rocks on the fan below."
